Your Impact
Reporting to the Policy School Manager, the Policy School Coordinator is responsible for supporting the departments policy school program initiatives through planning, implementation, and participant management. The Policy School Coordinator will be responsible for participant sourcing, outreach, and communications throughout the entirety of the program process. This role will have active engagement with Indigenous Youth and will directly support them in finding ways to amplify and empower their voices in policy and programming across the country.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
Program Support & Implementation:
- Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of programming to engage Indigenous Youth in a variety of policy related topics and activities, with particular attention to the Indigenous Youth Policy School.
- Ensure sufficient quantity of all required resources for the number of participants and hosts at each event as needed.
- Participate in securing facilitators, guest speakers, and other external partners; act as a first point of contact to support them through any challenges or needs that may arise in the course of their work with IYR.
- Provide support to participants and hosts throughout the program to help them achieve meaningful results in policy capacity development.
- Support in the ongoing development and enhancement of culturally relevant curriculum and materials for policy programming.
Participant Management:
- Conduct outreach through a variety of channels to engage and connect with a large volume of Indigenous youth from across Canada to ensure high participation and engagement rates for ongoing program initiatives.
- Ensure all communications, enrollments, and engagements align with IYR policies and standards.
- Engage participants throughout the process of programming including pre-event and post-even communications to assist in the setup and evaluation of program success.
- Create tools and resources to ensure consistent, efficient, and clear communication with a wide range of participants and facilitators.
Administration:
- Utilize and improve records management processes to ensure appropriate records of all participants, activities, facilitators, and other needed information are properly filed and accessible to relevant parties.
- Provide support in planning, developing, implanting, and evaluating all department activities and initiatives.
- Support in the tracking of program budgets and other financial responsibilities including contracting services, accommodations, and travel as needed for participants, facilitators, or other external partners.
Community Engagement:
- Uphold and promote the organization’s cultural values and guiding principles in all workplace practices.
- Engage with the Indigenous community and support initiatives that strengthen relationships and collaboration.
Health, Safety, and Wellness:
- All employees are required to carry out their duties in a manner that does not adversely affect their own health and safety and that of others by reporting all potential hazards; and all incidents and injuries; as well as co-operating with any measures introduced in the workplace to improve OH&S.
Other:
- Maintain high ethical standards and demonstrate integrity, honesty, and trustworthiness in all endeavours and communications.
- Support and participate in all IYR staff, department, and team meetings.
- Participate in external and internal committees, working groups, or projects as required.
- Undertake other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2 years in program coordination
- 1 years experience in a communications or supportive role
- Previous experience in policy development an asset
- Previous experience in curriculum development an asset
- Experience working with Indigenous youth communities an asset
- Strong administrative experience, with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
- Proven written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with a high attention to detail.

Compensation
- Salary: $53,475 – $62,558
- Health benefits: will begin following a 3-month probationary period
- Other: GRRSP employer contribution that is 5% of salary
- Vacation: 3 weeks and statutory holidays, in addition to a 2-week winter closure
- Personal Days: 15 days
- Annual Professional Development Benefit: $1500 annually following a 3 month probationary period
- Cultural Days: 5 days annually
- Volunteer Hours: 5 hours monthly at any organization of your choice.
- Flexible Work Week Options: 4 and 5 Day work week options.
