Alicia D’Avalon,

Communications Coordinator

Alicia is a Black-Indigenous (Taíno) researcher, writer, and community leader with a deep commitment to Indigenous resurgence, youth empowerment, and decolonial storytelling. She brings over a decade of experience in communications, community engagement, and research mobilization to her role as Communications Coordinator at Indigenous Youth Roots.

Alicia holds an MA in Socio-Cultural Anthropology from McGill University and is completing a second MA in Community Economic Development at Concordia University. Her work centers Indigenous knowledge systems, land-based practices, and sustainability, with a strong focus on amplifying youth voices and cultural narratives through strategic communications.

Outside of work Alicia enjoys dance, travel and D&D.
