Michelle (she/her) is a mixed Ojibwe woman, belonging to the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, currently residing in New Brunswick on unceded Wabanaki grounds. She has a bachelor’s of Psychology with a minor in English writing and currently works as an artist, specializing in beadwork and painting.  

 She is a mentor for the Indigenous Friends Association and has participated in IYR’S Youth Policy School to learn policy as advocacy. She is passionate about human rights, and especially Indigenous and women’s rights. She has been the recipient of multiple grant awards for her small art business, including a creation grant! Michelle tries to find opportunities to help encourage Indigenous youth any way she can. 

 Michelle began her reconnecting journey in high school and began beading in 2021, and is passionate about land based learning. She has always had a very deep connection to the water. She is a mom to a toddler and a kitty, and hopes that her relationship with culture will be passed on through future generations.
