Kayla Petit Peuplier

Wapikwaniy Ka-Mitosis, (English name Kayla Littlepoplar) (she/her) is a 19-year-old nehiyaw iskwew (Plains Cree woman) from nakīwaciy (Sweetgrass First Nation), now residing in Binesii-wiikwedong (Thunder Bay). She is deeply rooted in her Indigenous heritage and passionate about advocating for Indigenous youth empowerment. Currently enrolled at Lakehead University, Kayla also works as an Indigenous Program Coordinator for Wabshkaa Animkii Benesii, an Anishinaabe cultural youth program in Thunder Bay, and serves as a Policy Officer for Indigenous Services Canada. In these roles, she strives to make a meaningful impact on both community and policy levels, driven by her belief in the transformative power of opportunity. Outside of her academic and professional endeavors, Kayla is a very creative individual with a passion for artistic expression. She immerses herself in various forms, including beadwork, painting, jingle dancing, and regalia design. Kayla also enjoys exploring her culinary talents as an amateur pastry chef.
