Marrissa Mathews is Omushkego from Treaty 9 and a member of Weenusk First Nation. Marrissa completed her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science Pre-Law at Lakehead University, her Master of Arts in Political Science at York University and she is currently a PhD candidate at McMaster University in the Department of Political Science working on her dissertation on urban Indigenous youth success in the Friendship Centre Movement. She is currently the Senior Research Coordinator at the National Association of Friendship Centres supporting community-driven research within the Friendship Centre Movement.
