Details
A series of four healing and understanding based workshops. Designed for Settlers of Colour to challenge ideas of home, nationhood, and belonging. Engage in meaningful discussion around the themes of connecting to homelands, healing, the nuanced experience of settlers of colour, and the history of colonization.
The project would consist of 4 workshops over the course of a month with 10-15 participants. We will be accepting participants who are between the ages of 18-29, who identify with the term “settler of colour,” and currently living in Canada. Youth will receive a $50 stipend for attending workshops.
The project would include an in-depth discussion of the different types of settlers (refugees, migrants, etc.) including a specific look at Blackness in Canada. Participants will engage in 4 two-hour workshops with activities surrounding the themes mentioned above, ongoing journaling, and leave with resources for further exploration of the themes.
