Galya Bravo,

Manager of Strategic Initiatives

Galya was born in the Dish with One Spoon Territory (Toronto) and moved to Tiotià:ke (Montréal) in 2016 for University where she achieved a B.A in Political Science and Latin American studies. She has a mixed heritage and is a first-generation child of refugee settlers from Chile. She has a deep commitment to social justice and has been an activist for many years.

Galya is the Manager of Strategic Initiatives at IYR. In this position, she is able to use her political organizing experience in a new way. Electoral politics has taught her how to make quick and effective decisions, and has allowed her to work with members of the public from a variety of different backgrounds. Her role in connecting and engaging Indigenous youth in ways that promote decolonial, collaborative and grassroots perspectives on change is how she demonstrates her solidarity.
