Kim Wakeford,

she/they

Associate Director

My name is Kim Wakeford (she/they) and I am a researcher, writer, and policy wonk living and working on unceded Algonquin territory in Ottawa, Ontario. My ancestry is Irish, English, French, and Algonquin; I do not identify as Indigenous. My professional and academic background is in Indigenous rights and ending violence against women, non-binary, and 2SLGBTQ+ peoples, and how those issues shape and are shaped by the policy landscape in Canada and internationally. I’m passionate about community-building, safety and healing, and keeping settler governments accountable. In my off-time, I enjoy crafting, tinkering with old electronics, playing guitar, film photography, and video games.
